Russian Circles ticket give away

Russian Circles at the R&R Hotel

The excellent instrumental band Russian Circles is coming to the Rock And Roll Hotel on Tuesday, February 18th and we’re really excited about this show here at DCHM. So excited that we’ll be giving away not one but two pairs of tickets to this show! To enter: just leave a comment on this post telling me who your favorite instrumental band is. Maybe it’s Pelican, Animals As Leaders, Blotted Science, Karma To Burn or another band entirely. At 5pm EST this Friday, January 17th, two winners will be chosen at random (using Random.org) from all valid entries and each winner will receive two tickets to the show! Be sure to use a valid email you check regularly so I can contact you if you win. Don’t worry, I won’t add you to any spam lists or sell your info or anything sleazy like that. If I haven’t heard back from the winner in 24 hours another winner will be chosen at random. If you can’t wait to see if you win or the contest is already over when you read this then you can get tickets from Ticket Fly right now for $16.50 here.

Russian Circles gave us the moody album Memorial in late October and this will be their first area appearance since its release. That’s not all to look forward to at this show though, there’s also going to be support from KEN mode, a sick Canadian hardcore/noise band. The opening act is a personal favorite of mine, Richmond’s Inter Arma. These guys released an incredible album on Relapse in 2013, titled Sky Burial, and their live shows are even better. Get there early to see these guys, you’ll be glad you did! Now give a listen to some of my favorite songs by all three bands below and leave a comment telling me your favorite instrumental band!

Russian Circles – Geneva

Russian Circles – Burial

KEN mode – Extending Common Courtesy Throughout The Evening

Inter Arma – ‘sblood

  1. Pelican wins by default, plus honorable mention to local guys Admiral Browning.

  2. Tangled Thoughts of Leaving (they had vocals on one of their oldest songs, but whatever) is definitely my favorite, but Pelican is a close second.

  3. Redneck Manifesto

  4. Earth

They continue to put out great material and progress. Amazing on record and live. Definitely my favorite instrumental act.

  5. Exivious is a favorite instrumental band that I just recently became aware of!

  6. Pelican. It’s obviously, but I spent too much of my twenties in Chicago seeing them so I can’t say anything else.

  7. Blotted Science! Webster is a monster on the bass.

  8. Bong. Maybe Blotted Science. That new Tempel ripped pretty hard too.

  9. Mono wins outright currently for me if you exclude Russian Circles. All out Japanese awesomeness. I like earlier Pelican but think their latest stuff isn’t as good. Russian Circles is actually my favorite…I listen to Youngblood from Station on repeat at work when I am doing work that requires me to block out all things around me.

  10. Earthless. Can’t get enough.

  11. dysrhythmia, they’re a trip

  12. Pelican is probably my favorite instruMETAL band.

  13. Godspeed You!

  14. Earth is the shit!

  15. Excluding RC, I’d say probably Pelican or Animals As Leaders. They’re all so good in different ways.

  16. I’m still a huge fan of Mogwai, not metal but brilliant none the less.

  17. Old Chon was sooo sick

  18. Gotta say I’m a big Scale the Summit fan, especially their last album

  19. The mighty Pelican! Especially the newer stuff. Love it!

  20. Red Sparowes

  21. Bongripper!!!

  22. Earth

  23. Last Exit.

  24. Definitely Dysrhythmia. I’ve followed them since No Interference, and their live shows always brings an unrivaled immediacy.

  25. sunn o)))

  26. 65daysofstatic!

  27. buckethead

  28. Mogwai!!

  29. Have to go with Behold The Arctopus!
