Earthless is a psychedelic stoner band from San Diego, California and they’re coming to the Rock & Roll Hotel on Tuesday, March 20th, 2018. They’re a favorite of mine to see live so I’m very excited that one of you lucky DCHM readers will be going to the show for free with a friend. To enter: just leave a comment on this post telling me who your favorite band from California is. From Metallica to Mötley Crüe and Slayer to Fu Manchu, all bands from California will count as valid entries. Earthless is known for their long songs (several are over 20 minutes long!), most of which are instrumental. The band’s new album, Black Heaven is coming out Friday, March 16th on Nuclear Blast Records. Black Heaven is different than previous Earthless albums because guitarist Isaiah Mitchell sings on several of the songs. This doesn’t extremely alter their sound though because band still finds plenty of time to jam out between verses. While the studio songs sound great the band is really incredible live and their drummer, Mario Rubalcaba, is one of the best drummers I’ve ever seen live that isn’t in some elite death metal band. The guy is simply a beast behind the kit and he brings an energy to their live shows that many stoner bands lack. Also on the bill is Kikagaku Moyo, a Japanese psychedelic band, and JJUUJJUU is a trippy experimental/drone band from Los Angeles.
