Graveyard plays a very catchy blues influenced style of hard rock than any fan of the heavy can enjoy. If you haven’t checked out their modern classic album Hisingen Blues I highly suggest it as a great starting point for getting into the band. Their latest album, Innocence & Decadence is pretty damn good too. And while Graveyard has played in Washington DC before, never have they played in the District on a stage with the size and sound set up like the 9:30 Club’s. The opening act is Spiders, a rock band also from Gothenburg, Sweden, that was formed as a side project of Graveyard drummer Axel Sjöberg though they have now come into their own. Now check out these great videos by the bands below and let me know what was your favorite show ever at the 9:30 Club!

Graveyard – Hisingen Blues

Graveyard – The Apple And The Tree

Spiders – Mad Dog

Pepper Keenan has been busy with his other band, Down, for years but now he’s back in Corrosion Of Conformity to play guitar once again for the North Carolina based sludge metal band. Also on this show’s bill will be Brant Bjork and the Low Desert Punk Band. Brant Bjork has been in a ton of bands but he is probably best remembered for being the drummer and a founding member of Kyuss and for his time in in Fu Manchu. There will also be a set by Oakland based thrashy stoner band Saviours. The opening act is Mothership, who aren’t a funk band but are actually a stoner band from Dallas. That’s a hell of a line up for just $20! Now check out these videos of the bands playing and let me know what your favorite metal concert of 2015 has been!

Exodus was one of the first bands of the infamous San Francisco thrash metal scene of the 1980’s. Long time Exodus vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza is back in the fold and the band is currently touring in support of their first album with him in 10 years, Blood In Blood Out. Don’t expect to just hear new material though as the band will also be playing classics from their entire back catalog at the Black Cat. The opening band is a local noise band named Jail Solidarity. I know this is out third ticket give away in a row but we do have some other great posts coming up soon, including an interview with one of the members of Exodus, so stay tuned! Until then, check out these videos and let me know what your favorite thrash band is!

Goatsnake is from Los Angeles and features members of bands like The Obsessed and Sunn O))). Goatsnake have made a name for themselves with their blend of southern rock and doom metal and this summer they released their first album in 15 years, Black Age Blues, and it rips! They have a high energy live show but they rarely make it to the East Coast to play live so you don’t want to miss this rare chance to see them right here in Washington, DC, one of just three of their East Coast dates. Also on the bill is YDi (pronounced Why Die), a reformed old school hardcore band that started in Philadelphia in the 80s. The opener is Big ‡ Brave from Montreal, Canada, and they play a strange experimental style of metal. Now check out these videos of the bands playing the show and let me know what your favorite doom, sludge or stoner metal band is in the comments!

The anonymous Swedes of Ghost have their true identities shrouded in mystery but one thing is for sure, they know how to put on a killer live show. From their costumes, stage backdrops and lighting to their super catchy riffs and chorus lines Ghost is quite the musical spectacle to behold. They’ll also be playing with Purson, a psychedelic band from London, who should be great at setting the stage for Ghost. Now check out these killer tunes by Ghost and Purson and tell me what your favorite Ghost song is in the comments!
