If you’ve been naughty and all you are getting from Santa is switches and coal then you’re in luck: Maryland’s hardest rockers, Clutch, are coming to the 9:30 Club on Wednesday the 26th of December! Since this is the season to be giving, DCHeavyMetal.com is going to give away a free pair of tickets to this very concert to a lucky one of you readers. To enter just leave a comment at the bottom of this post telling me why you want to see Clutch at the 9:30 Club. Maybe you want to go because you’ve never seen them live or perhaps you want the chance to hear some new songs from their upcoming album Earth Rocker or maybe you just want a good excuse to get the hell away from visiting relatives. At 5pm EST on Friday, December 14th, 2012, the contest will close and a winner will be chosen at random (using Random.org) from all valid entries to get the free pair of tickets to the show. If I don’t hear from the winner in 24 hours then I’ll randomly pick another person to get the tickets. Please don’t enter if you cannot attend. Be sure to enter with a valid email address you check regularly so I can contact you if you win. Don’t worry, I won’t add you to any email lists or anything like that, I hate spam too. If you enter more than once then all of your entries will be disqualified. If the contest is over when you read this or you simply can’t wait to find out if you win the contest you can buy tickets from Ticket Fly for $29 here.
Most of you should be familiar with Clutch’s music even if you don’t have any of their albums. Their music has been featured all over the place (as evidenced here) such as during NFL football highlights on Fox, on the TV show the Walking Dead, in various movies and video games and the Vancouver Canucks even use one of their songs when celebrating a goal being scored! You can bet they’ll be playing a bunch of their classic songs at this show and if we’re lucky we’ll get to hear some new tracks from their upcoming album Earth Rocker as well. Mondo Generator is a band with close ties to Kyuss and Queens Of The Stone Age, and at various points has featured members of both of those bands. They should be a great support act for this show. Saviours comes from Oakland, California but they’re not an old school thrash throwback by any means. They play some rockin sludge metal and it should be awesome seeing them on the 9:30 Club’s big stage. And be sure to get there early because the opening act is the solo project of Wino, aka Scott Weinrich, who has been a main member of a few bands you may have heard of such as Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan and Shrinebuilder. I hear that for this show Dave Sherman will be joining him as well so perhaps we’ll get to hear a couple of Spirit Caravan songs. Now listen to these classic tunes by the four bands playing while you leave a comment to enter the contest. Good luck everyone!

that would be the best way to spend Boxing Day. Also your Tumblr said this concert is on 9/26
Yeah it was a typo but I can’t really change it now. I noticed right after it went out. Oh well, the tickets are still free tho!
Because Clutch is one of the best live acts around. That and Earth Rocker so far sounds like some of their older material and I want to see that played live.
I don’t have to drive to work this day! and would enjoy driving to the 930 club to see clutch
I WANNA ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want I go cause I’ve never seen ’em! And it’ll be a great way to round out this 2012.
I want to go because I’ve never experienced a full headlining set by Clutch. I saw their 3 song set at the 930 Club’s anniversary party, and caught them at a festival… but I was the full deal. Those previews were just d!ck-teases!
BECAUSE JEAN-PAUL GASTER GIVES THE BEST DRUM SOLO’S I’VE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE!!!! That, and I feel like this will bring the true meaning of Christmas, being that we are meant to rock after opening gifts!!!!
I want to go because it’ll be my 3rd time seeing them, but like someone above I’ve only seen them playing shorter sets so this will be my first full headliner.
I want to see Clutch b/c I haven’t seen them in 3 years. I also want to see Mondo Generator.
Save me from my family.
DCHM! i love Saviors! only band that literitly took me “backstage” to hang with them. wanna see them again soo much. clutch too! hope to win!
Would totally love to see this show.
Because they’re awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because I’ve never seen the grooviest cats in rock live, and now’s the time.
I want to be an Earth Rocker.
Would love the opportunity to take my fiance to this concert. She needs to see just how amazing Spacegrass is live!
Congrats, you’re the winner of the Clutch tickets!
After five days with my parents, I will need an excuse to rock out! Plus, Clutch is awesome and their new album really kicks. ..
I actually haven’t seen Clutch live despite being a fan for many years. The supporting bands are absolutely crushing, too.
((((The reasoning and necessity for this Experience —- I first off am a well intrigued fan of Wino and his “Spirit of Maryland and beyond radiating from his soul” music. Though I’ve never experienced his music in person. And God I love Kyuss. Therefore, Nick Oliveri would bring some of that spirit, I could dig that! Clutch is hella awesome, I could dig that! Saviours would be quite an experience. Its my bandmember’s birthday on the 26th.. and tickets just sold out… that’s a drag…)))) May the great spirit shine upon thee..
I would like to finally see them in a setting where I’m not working. I never have a chance to enjoy bands when I’m doing other things, and this is one band I’ve been wanting to catch.
Because Im a Die Hard fan
Because I won’t have a ticket otherwise!!
I need those tickets cuz I really wanna see clutch live!!!!!!!
I love clutch and they always put on a great set!
Shows like this keep me from murdering people.
Hell yeah I want to see CLUTCH. Hell I’ll even ride my foot clutch 51 panhead down to rock out!
I love Clutch SO HARD. Neil Fallon is on my “list” (and considering there are only 5 spots, that’s a huge honor for him). One show I’m pretty sure I gave myself a seizure. The good kind. I’m also a huge (HUGE) Kyuss fan and I’m dying to see Mondo Generator live. ALSO, Wino is pretty kick ass. This show will start at 11. AND THEN WE’LL CRANK IT UP TO 11. A five year old might have written a better persuasion piece, but the main point being: IAMREADYTOROCK.
What a lineup! Gotta go!
I screwed up, waited too long and now they are sold out. I told my friend, who just got terrible news that we would go and I would pay for the tickets. He’s also a huge Mondo Generator fan. I know it would be incredible if we could win these tickets.
Haven’t seen clutch in a couple years and would love to check out the new tunes.
I just realized how much of an idiot I am by letting this show sell out before I got my tickets.
Clutch is pure rock fury!
forgot my info…
I want to see Clutch at 9:3 because last time I saw them at Recher I ate Burger King on my way which was a huge mistake. For most of the set I was in and out if the shitter. This would be sweet redemption.
Big fan of Clutch and Kyuss. Would love to see Mondo Generator supporting our guys.
Because I’m an asshat and didn’t get tickets in time! I’d like to kiss 2012 goodbye with some Pure Rock Fury.
Because it’s the day before I leave to go back to San Francisco and my fiancee is a ridiculous Clutch fan.
My mom took me to my first three clutch shows before I was 18, and I’d love to take her again but she waited too long to get tickets! It’s been 8 years since I rocked out with my mom!
My brother from CA will be in town and I need to get him out to a good show.
It’s my boyfriend’s birthday and he is inept at keeping track of upcoming shows, even for bands he loves as much as Clutch…so I want to surprise him with tickets. Also, I keep missing St. Vitus and want to watch Wino being weird and amazing.
and i definitely just put in the wrong email address for myself – it’s actually medeashouts@yahoo, not gmail. thanx!
I want to see Clutch because they are a band my older brother introduced me to when I was a kid. The first heavy band I ever got into was them. My favorite song was Spacegrass.
