Pig Destroyer is playing the Rock & Roll Hotel this Saturday, December 3rd with Deceased! That’s a couple of pretty big bands in a pretty small room and you know it’s going to be a wild night. Since we love giving stuff away at DCHeavyMetal.com and since today is Giving Tuesday, we’re going to give one of you lucky readers a free pair of tickets to this show. But wait, there’s more! The winner will also get a copy of the show poster (seen above) by artist Craig Horky that is signed by all of the members of Pig Destroyer. To enter just leave a comment on this post telling me what your favorite metal album of 2016 has been. At 5pm EST this Thursday, December 1st, a winner will be chosen at random (using Random.org) from all valid entries to win the tickets and signed poster. Be sure to use a valid email you check regularly so I can contact you if you win. Don’t worry, I won’t add you to any spam lists or sell your info or anything sleazy like that. If I haven’t heard back from the winner in 24 hours another winner will be chosen at random. If you can’t wait to see if you win or the contest is already over when you read this, then you can get tickets from Ticket Fly for $18 here.
Pig Destroyer is a twisted grind band from the DMV area and they’re known for putting on intense shows! This show at the Rock & Roll Hotel is sure to be a blast in front of their home town crowd. And let’s not forget Deceased, one of the area’s oldest underground metal bands. They have been cranking out their metal of death with a strong focus on horror movies since the mid-80s. Also on the bill is “The Grindfather” Richard Johnson’s band Drugs Of Faith. When he isn’t screaming into the mic for Agoraphobic Nosebleed he leads DoF with their pioneering of the Grind ‘n Roll style. The opener is Cemetery Piss, a Baltimore based band that lies somewhere between crust, black metal and sludge. This is one hell of a line up that is much more than your average “locals” show! Now check out these awesome videos of the bands playing below and leave a comment telling me what your favorite metal album of 2016 has been!
Pig Destroyer – The Diplomat
Deceased – It’s Alive
Drugs Of Faith – Insanity
Cemetery Piss – Rest In Piss

oh dope giveaway! man, the best of 2016 seemed to come in later. The new antaeus is absolutely beastly, but as hipster as it sounds, the new Deathspell Omega had me reeling by the end, just absolute madness.
My favorite metal album of 2016? Dang it’s a tie honestly between new Candiria While They Were Sleeping and new Anaal Nathrakh Whole of the Law . Both eagerly anticipated and didn’t let me down
The debut ‘Abbath’ record… Shit. Fucking. Rips.
Inter Arma – Paradise Gallows
Stoked for this show – thanks!
Hordes of Armageddon by Terrör Striker
Beldam-Still The Wretched Linger
Whispered – Metsutan: Songs of the Void
Tough call on the best metal album. One that I’ve been really digging lately is
Striker – Stand in the Fire
Apology by Weekend Nachos.
Sumac – What One Becomes
For me best metal album of 2016 (that ive heard) is either Agoraphobic Nosebleed’s Arc or Crowbar’s The Serpent Only Lies.
NOFX – Last Ditch Effort
Errr….I guess NOFX is “punk”. Metal would be Blood Incantation – Starspawn
Cobalt – Slow Forever, or SubRosa – For This We Fought the Battle of the Ages
Two negative comments from the same “anonymous” person? Get outta here Pittsburgh and go pout somewhere else.
The new Ulcerate- Shrines Of Paralysis is definitely my favorite
Dungeon Bastards by Ghoul with the world’s most extreme board game.
NAILS- YOU WILL NEVER BE ONE OF US!
Dark Tranquillity – Atoma
A lot of stiff competition this year but these guys are (in my opinion) forever underrated and continue to outlast everyone around them in terms of musical growth and sustained output.
Abuse to Suffer by Rotten Sound
Vektor – Terminal Redux
Awesome giveaway. Love Pig Destroyer. Best album of 2016 has to be Meshuggah
Shit. It’s a toss-up between Abbath’s solo debut and The serpent Only Lies from Crowbar. I’m leaning towards Crowbar though.
The Violent Sleep of Reason by Meshuggah. I love their industrial sound, easily one of my top 5 favorite bands.
Im only in DC until monday and then I go back home to England so this would be awesome…..for me this year got be Serenity of Sufferig by Korn….good to see them going back to a bit of old skool Korn.
True Widow’s Avvolgere
NAILS
“You will never be one of us”
My favorite album from 2016 so far has got to be Arctic Thunder by Darkthrone. Talk about a return to form, it’s absolutely crushing and delivers on every front I’d expect and more from Darkthrone.
Oh man, it’s a toss up.
Cough – Still they Prey
Or
Sewercide – Immortalized in Sufffering
Cough – Still they Pray
NAILS-You Will Never Be One Of Us or Red Fang- Only Ghosts
Gojira’s Magma.
I really like Gojira, despite the fact that I passed out (it was really, really hot and crowded) and nearly got trampled to death at one of their shows.
Vector – Terminal Redux
Tough call as I loved Cough and Inter Arma’s new ones but I do think Ulcerate’s Shrines of Paralysis might be the best!
Abbath
Meshuggah-The violent sleep of reason
Gonna have to go with Voivod – Post Society
DevilDriver — Trust No One was one I thought was killer. What was even more killer was seeing them live (for the 3rd or 4th time) this year and hearing them play a large assortment of their older stuff as well.
Best 2016 album~ Gorguts “Pleides Dust”
Love you guys tho! A pair of tix would be amazing! Money is REAL tight this Xmas and haven’t seen y’all since the last show with Darkest Hour! Stay metal🤘🏼
Amon Amarth – Jomsviking!
2016 Best (well, one of my favs) Weekend Nachos “Apology”
Deftonew gore
I have to go with Magma by Gojira. Not the heaviest, but every time I listen to it, I enjoy it more.
Mizmor, Yodh
