Thrash metal fans cannot miss the Dark Roots Of Thrash II Tour when it brings both Testament and Exodus to the Fillmore Silver Spring on Tuesday, April 28th of 2015! We’re so psyched that we want to get as many people out to this show as possible so this week we’re giving away a free pair of tickets to one of you lucky DCHM readers. To enter just leave a comment on this post telling me what your favorite thrash metal band is. You can go old school Bay Area like Testament and Exodus themselves, or Big Four like Anthrax and Slayer, or maybe new school like Municipal Waste and Warbringer or even go with a crossover band for you DRI and Power Trip fans! On this tour Testament will be playing a set mostly consisting of material from their first three albums, The Legacy, The New Order and Practice What You Preach, so fans of the band’s classic older material are in for a hell of a show. And you may have heard that Exodus has brought back Steve Souza to front the band so you can expect to hear songs from their new album with him, Blood In Blood Out, as well as classic older material from when he was with the band in the 80s and 90s. The opening act for this show is going to be Shattered Sun, a Texas based band that is having their debut full length album, Hope Within Hatred, released this very week on Victory Records. Dave Mustaine and Megadeth will be playing ‘deth songs new and old which will definitely keep you warm on this cold December night. The Metal Alliance Tour is back again and with Anthrax headlining this year it’s bigger than ever! The tour’s only area stop will be at the Fillmore Silver Spring on Sunday, April 14th, 2013 and we here at DCHeavyMetal.com want to make sure as many of the area’s metal heads can make it out as possible so we’re giving away a pair of tickets to the show to one of you lucky readers of the site. Anthrax is headlining this year’s Metal Alliance Tour and to make it even better, they’ll be playing their classic album, Among The Living, in its entirety at every show on the tour. But don’t think the New York thrashers are the only band worth seeing at this show. Direct support will be provided by the legendary Exodus, one of the original bands from the ’80s thrash metal scene in the San Francisco Bay Area. Richmond party thrashers Municipal Waste will also be on this tour so be sure to have a beer in hand when they’re playing. The Massachusetts based melodic death metal band Shadows Fall will be playing only a few dates on this tour, including this one. Their lead guitarist, Jonathan Donais, has recently been added to Anthrax’s live line up so he’ll be playing twice each night. The opening band is Holy Grail from Pasadena, California. They play a blend of thrash and power metal that is almost as high energy as their live show. If you’re not familiar with Holy Grail then check out their newest album, Ride The Void, which is their best release yet, and be sure to get to the show in time to see them. Testament played the epic first metal show ever at the Fillmore Silver Spring back in November 2011 with Anthrax. Now they’re back to headline the area’s only stop on the Dark Roots Of Thrash Tour which features some classic thrash metal bands to keep your head banging all night long! In addition to Testament there will also be sets by New Jersey’s Overkill and Flotsam And Jetsam, a Phoenix, Arizona band you might remember as being Jason Newstead’s band before he joined Metallica in the late 80s. Rob Zombie, Megadeth and Lacuna Coil are coming to Merriweather Post Pavilion on Sunday, May 13th for the epic Metal Lords’ Day! Since I would personally hate it if you missed this concert I’m giving away a pair of kick ass seated tickets to one of you lucky readers. All you have to do to enter is tell me in the comments below which of the three main stage bands you want to see the most, Rob Zombie, Megadeth or Lacuna Coil. Merriweather Post Pavilion is known for being one of the best sounding open air venues in the country and to help convince you of this I’m going to give you a free pair of seated tickets so you don’t have to sit back on the lawn and squint to see Rob Zombie’s horror freak show! Even if you don’t win you’re going to want good seats for a show like this, and you can get tickets from Ticket Fly for $55 here. And as if Metal Lords’ Day wasn’t already jam packed enough with the Rob Zombie’s industrial, Megadeth’s thrash and Lacuna Coil’s gothy tunes, there’s a second stage that will feature three metal cover bands. First is Moon Baby, a Godsmack tribute, then Sanctuary, an Iron Maiden tribute, and finally Battery: The Masters Of Metallica. Go listen to some classic metal tunes while you knock a few back before the big guys hit the main stage, sounds like a damn good day to me. Legendary 80’s thrashers Anthrax are coming to the Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland this Sunday, the 6th of November! Support on this show will be by not one, but two, awesome Bay area metal bands, Testament and Death Angel. I’m giving away a free pair of tickets to one lucky DCHeavyMetal.com reader and all you’ve got to do is post a comment below telling me which of these bands you’re most excited to see play. I’ll pick one lucky winner at random (using Random.org) from all valid entries at 6pm EST on Saturday 5 November 2011. Be sure that when you post you use a valid email you check even on Saturdays because I’ll need to contact you if you win. You can only enter once, multiple entries will be disqualified. Anthrax has been playing with the Big Four a lot lately, but since they were playing first at those mega shows they’ve been playing shorter sets. If you’d like to see them play a full headlining set, this show is for you! Of course Testament is going to kick ass as well and if you haven’t seen the opening act, Death Angel, play live before you should, they’re pretty damn awesome.
