Gwar ticket give away

Gwar at the 9:30 Club

While much of the holiday season seems to revolve around materialism I’d like to remind you what is really important about this time of year: GOING TO SEE GWAR!!!! That’s right, our alien scumdog overlords are blessing us with a performance at the 9:30 Club on Saturday, December 29th! To get you all in the holiday spirit, we’re giving away the ultimate holiday gift to one of you lucky DCHM readers: a free pair of tickets to this very show! To enter: just leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite song to drown out all that annoying holiday music they’re playing everywhere right now. Then at 5pm EST this Tuesday, December 18th, a winner will be chosen at random (using Random.org) from all valid entries to win the tickets. Be sure to use a valid email you check regularly so I can contact you if you win. Don’t worry, I won’t add you to any spam lists or sell your info or anything sleazy like that. If I haven’t heard back from the winner in 24 hours another winner will be chosen at random. If you can’t wait to see if you win or the contest is already over when you read this, then you can get tickets from Ticket Fly here.

Nothing gets you more in the holiday spirit than getting covered in blood and other bodily fluids at a Gwar concert! I expect to see everyone on Santa’s naughty list at this show. And get there early because no matter your denomination you’ll enjoy the crossover thrash of support band Iron Reagan. And everyone is getting their stockings stuffed with the dirty speed-rock of Detroit’s Against The Grain when they open the show. Now check out these videos of the bands below and leave a comment saying what your favorite song is to drown out holiday music (seriously, I need some good suggestions).

Christmas caroling with GWAR

Iron Reagan – Fuck The Neighbors

Against The Grain – Cheated Death

Napalm Death and Voivod at Baltimore SoundStage

One of the original grind bands is teaming up with one of the original Canadian thrash bands when Napalm Death and Voivod join forces for the Through Space And Grind Tour! The tour’s only stop in our area is on Saturday, January 31st at the Baltimore SoundStage and because this show is going to be so sick we’re going to give away a pair of tickets to one of you loyal DCHM readers! To enter just leave a comment on this post telling me which band on the tour you want to see the most (choose from Napalm Death, Voivod, Exhumed, Iron Reagan, Black Crown Initiate or Ringworm). At 5pm EST on Wednesday, January 28th, a winner will be chosen at random (using Random.org) from all valid entries to win the tickets. Be sure to enter using a valid email you check regularly so I can contact you if you win. Don’t worry, I won’t add you to any spam lists or sell your info or anything sleazy like that. If I haven’t heard back from the winner in 24 hours another winner will be chosen at random. If you can’t wait to see if you win or the contest is already over when you read this, then you can get tickets from Ticket Fly for $18.70 here.

UK grind gods Napalm Death always put on a great live show and Voivod haven’t played the area since they played Maryland Deathfest in 2011! In addition there will be sets by the Carcass inspired gorey death meta band Exhumed and crossover thrash by Richmond’s Iron Reagan, a wild band featuring the vocalist and bass player of Municipal Waste! Black Crown Initiate will be playing their proggy death metal and Cleveland based thrash-core band Ringworm will get the mosh pits started early! You’ve got to admit that’s a hell of a line up,l and for under $20 too! Now check out these videos by the bands on the bill and let me know which band you’re most excited to see on the 31st at the Baltimore SoundStage!

Napalm Death – When All Is Said And Done

Voivod – We Carry On

Exhumed – Coins Upon The Eyes

Iron Reagan – Miserable Failure

Black Crown Initiate – The Fractured One

Ringworm – Used Up Spit Out

Gwar at the 9:30 Club

It’s that time of year again, the weather is getting colder and you’re starting to hear holiday music when you venture out in public. This can only mean one thing: Gwar will be playing at the 9:30 Club soon! Sunday, November 17th to be precise (that’s this Sunday!). I’ve been commanded by my slave master Oderus Urungus to bring more lambs to the slaughter and so one of you (un)lucky DCHM readers will win a pair of tickets to attend this very massacre concert. To enter just leave a comment on this post letting me know which celebrity you’d like to see get the brutal Gwar treatment on stage at the show. At 5pm EST this Friday, November 15th, a winner will be chosen at random (using Random.org) from all valid entries to win the tickets. Be sure to use a valid email you check regularly so I can contact you if you win. Don’t worry, I won’t add you to any spam lists or sell your info or anything sleazy like that. If I haven’t heard back from the winner in 24 hours another winner will be chosen at random. If you can’t wait to see if you win or the contest is already over when you read this, then you can get tickets from Ticket Fly for $25 here.

If you’ve never seen Gwar live before then get ready for a truly religious experience! Our alien masters are known for putting on the goriest live show in the universe and you’ll be covered in blood, bile and worse by the time it’s over, a truly epic baptism by mosh pit. But before Gwar even dominates the 9:30 Club stage there will be sets by other bands as well. Iron Reagan is a crossover/punk band with Tony Foresta (Municipal Waste vocalist), Landphil Hall (Municipal Waste, Cannabis Corpse) and Ryan Parrish (ex-Darkest Hour drummer) and they’re going to shred your faces off! Starting off the festivities is the aptly named A Band Of Orcs. If you’ve ever wondered what it would sound like if monstrous orcs from Lord Of The Rings formed a metal band then get there early to find out. These guys are more Tolkien than Gorgoroth! Still not sure if you should go? Then check out these awesome music videos by the bands playing the show as you think up your entry!

Gwar at the 9:30 Club

Gwar, Richmond’s masters of insane on stage antics, land their spaceship in Washington DC on Thursday the 20th of December 2012 at the 9:30 Club. I have been enlisted to recruit more slaves for the scumdogs of the universe so this week on DCHeavyMetal.com you can enter to win a free pair of tickets to this recruitment camp metal concert! To enter just leave a comment at the end of this post telling me why you want to see Gwar at this concert. Will it be your first time seeing their over the top live show? Maybe you’ve got a white shirt that needs more color? Perhaps you want to see their new guitarist, Pustulous Maximus, play his first DC show with the band. Or maybe you just need a classy event to ask that mildly attractive yet attainable seeming girl/boy you see regularly but want to know better to. At 5pm EST on Friday, December 7th, 2012, a winner will be chosen at random (using Random.org) from all valid entries to get the free pair of tickets to the show. If I don’t hear from the winner in 24 hours then I’ll randomly pick another person to get the tickets. Please don’t enter if you cannot attend. Be sure to enter with a valid email address you check regularly so I can contact you if you win. Don’t worry, I won’t add you to any email lists or anything like that, I hate spam too. If you enter more than once then all of your entries will be disqualified. If you simply can’t wait to see if you win the contest you can get tickets from Ticket Fly for $25 here.

If you’ve never seen Gwar live then you just don’t know what you’re missing. And you don’t have to take my word for it, even the very un-metal Moby said Gwar is the best live band ever (here). Be sure to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting covered in blood and gore, and keep your politically correct self at home because nobody is safe from the vile torment of Gwar when they’re on stage! The opening acts for this show are two other Richmond bands. Kepone is a recently reformed indie rock band from Richmond and if you’re wondering why they’re on this bill it is because they are fronted by Michael Bishop, the original Gwar bass player “Beefcake The Mighty”. Iron Reagan will open the show. They’re a new band but their line up includes current and former members of the bands Darkest Hour, Municipal Waste and Cannabis Corpse so be sure to get there early enough to see them. Now check out these killer videos with tunes of the bands while you enter the contest in the comments section below!
